The Russellville High School Panther Band has had a season to remember, showcasing their 2025 program, “The Sour Standoff,” with outstanding performances, competition wins, and community pride.
On September 6, the Panther Band took top honors at competition, finishing 1st Place Color Guard, 1st Place Percussion, and 1st Place Class 2A. Their momentum carried into the following weekend, where they proudly hosted the annual Show of Bands at Rhea Stadium, bringing schools from across the region together in celebration of music and performance.
Most recently, the Panther Band competed at Logan County’s Festival of Bands, where they earned 2nd Place overall and were honored with the coveted Rob Beasley Spirit Award, a testament to the enthusiasm and unity of the program.
Band Director Trevor Cardwell praised the group’s growth, saying, “This year’s show has really challenged our students in new ways. From the energy of the music to the creativity of the visuals, they’ve embraced every part of the journey. I’m proud of how they’ve risen to the occasion and represented RHS with pride.”
Assistant Band Director Brian Elliott echoed the sentiment, adding, “What sets this group apart is their heart. The Spirit Award says everything about who they are — not just talented musicians, but leaders and teammates who support one another and bring joy to every performance.”
This week they travel to Grayson County for their next competition. Panther fans and alumni will get to see them firsthand at the Tobacco and Heritage Festival parade. With their hard work and spirit on full display, the community is cheering them on every step of the way.
